Jeff Deitrich is the author
of the foremost book for spinner fishing in streams, Spinner
Fishing for Trout. He has two other books in print—Our
Paradise, a collection of nostalgic short stories that
relate the life lessons he discovered while learning how to fish
with his father and friends, and The
Penn State Experience, a guide for new Penn State students
in their first year. He has authored more than a dozen trout fishing
articles in Pennsylvania, New York and Michigan outdoor magazines.
Jeff is the founder of the premier non-fly fishing guide service
for trout in Pennsylvania, Trout
Guides of Central Pennsylvania. He is also the founder of an
idea that he hopes to make a reality—Pa.T.C.H., the Pennsylvania
Trout Conservancy and Hatcheries. Pa.T.C.H.
is an idea to help Pennsylvania reclaim its polluted trout waters.
In 2004, he launched a new poster featuring photographs of the
top 20 trout streams in Pennsylvania. The
Trout Streams of Pennsylvania Photo Series was shot to look
into the water of Pennsylvnia's streams to show their character
and depth. The series was also designed to provide exceptional depth
of field in the background with stop action on the water. You will
find no misty waters or rivers of fog in Deitrich's work.
Jeff enjoys watching and moreso playing almost all sports/outdoor
activities. He is an avid Penn State fan who has participated extensively
in Penn State alumni groups since his graduation with a degree in
Mass Communications in 1989. He hosts two
annual parties at his home, Il Pescatore, one in January
and an extended party for the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the
Arts in State College, Pa. in July. He is exceptionally generous
and hospitable. Further, he enjoys philosophy
and is working toward publishing his own novels and essays. His
ultimate personal goal outside of fishing is to become a novelist.
